Green or Eco Building

The Mandala Homes Approach

What is green building? When most of us consider what green, or eco-building means, we immediately think of energy-efficient windows and insulation but aren’t familiar with much beyond these essential elements. The fact is, green building involves significantly more than merely energy-efficient windows and quality insulation.

Sustainable Design and Construction

Backed by cutting edge Building Science principles

We utilize independent energy modeling and performance testing to set goals and make sure they are met. This is how we help our clients achieve a home that’s comfortable and healthy for occupants and good for the planet.

Mandala Custom Homes continuously examines our approach to sustainable building. With a substantial financial investment and hundreds of hours to develop our Air Secure Technology™ (AST) system in consultation with RDH Building Envelope Engineers. The goal of this work was to develop a system that creates a building that stays warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer, and maintains a healthy indoor environment for our clients. The cost to heat and cool our homes are typically reduced by 30-80% compared to conventional homes.  This is fundamental to a sustainable home.

As they say, “It’s all in the details”, and we couldn’t agree more. We’ve spent many hours combing through building science reports, hygrothermal models and manufacturer spec sheets to come up with a system that will stand up to environments from Hawaii to Alaska, coastal beaches to the high mountains, and all points in between. These details are stringently applied in our production facility and completed on site during package assembly. Our clients, their contractors, and building officials will appreciate the attention to detail, engineer approved methods, and documentation of our envelope assembly.

Healthy, Conscious & Harmonious Mandala Homes

We take a holistic approach utilizing advanced building techniques and technologies to promote responsible sustainability practices. We consider any construction project as a sum of its parts– everything from site orientation, building materials, HVAC equipment, windows, water and electrical consumption, to builder practices – as we strive to stay ahead of the curve in sustainable construction. We look to programs such as ENERGY STAR to help our clients reduce their energy consumption while also achieving deep emissions reductions.

The Mandala approach is based on employing the latest technologies to ensure a healthier, more durable building with a lower environmental impact, and ultimately savings to the client. Our innovative Off-Site Manufacture (OSM) round home construction does just that.

Sustainable Luxury Home

Air Secure Technology™ (AST)

Mandala Homes has developed our Air Secure Technology™ (AST) system to address the fundamental building system that other builders typically overlook. A comprehensive air and thermal barrier is the starting point for a high-performance sustainable home. AST starts in the design process making sure that the entire building envelope has alignment of air and thermal barriers. AST is then implemented in our innovative Off-Site Manufacturing process which allows us to painstakingly detail each home. We use independently tested air and water barriers along with high performance insulation to give you a home that will be vastly better than the typical site-built home.

Every Mandala home is successful at presenting minimal impact on the environment while providing exquisitely designed and inspired spaces promoting a sense of light and harmony.

Sacred, Sustainable Living

Integrating the sacred into everyday living, Mandala Homes pursues a vision inspired by the harmony existing within round spaces found in nature and throughout human evolution.

Intelligent design, cutting-edge efficiency in construction, and an abundance of natural light provide the founding principles for any Mandala Home or commercial space.

Our homes offer panoramic views and incredible acoustics and, with few to no corners to trap cooler air, a Mandala Home is, above all, energy efficient. Round houses are also of superior strength capable of standing up to extreme weather conditions including heavy snowfall, seismic, and hurricanes.

With its superior quality, durability, and aesthetics, a Mandala Home also maintains its desirability and high market value.

Whether yours is a tiny cottage, a multi-level home or a commercial building our high quality handcrafted round building suits just about any construction requirement or individual style.
